Tartan Thistle Dance Festival

Started in 2023, this group of volunteers was formed to ...

a. To promote Scottish Highland Dancing in the local community.

b. To manage events hosted by the Tartan Thistle Dance Festival (TTDF).

c. To offer competitive opportunities in Scottish Highland Dancing.

d. To uphold the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD)’s Code of Ethics, ensuring a duty of care to all dancers and operating in a fair and equitable manner.

We run as a not-for-profit, volunteer, community group.

One of our key objectives is to offer more opportunities for dancers of all ages to compete and perform. We were able to have Beginner 16 & Over and Premier 30 & Over categories at the competitions as well as choreography for both Pre-Premier and Premier. In the last competition, we introduced a demonstration dance that highlighted the New Zealand syllabus Hornpipe technique.

Sunday, 8th December 2024

The next competition is set and approved for Sunday 8th December.

Entries open on 27th September and close 24th November. Find it here :)

Choreography is back for all levels as well as the Premier 25 & Over category.

We hope to see you there!

We are still looking for a larger venue which can hold 2 platforms for future events.
